Nivea anyone? I wonder how many millions of dollars Nivea dished out to appear on every person in that endless sea of people crowded into Times Square to watch the infamous ball drop at the strike of midnight to ring in 2010. This year seemed to be more of an advertising campaign for Nivea than a whole hearted celebration. Did anyone else notice that? I actually became a little angry! It’d be like watching the NFL Super Bowl and every player’s jersey from both teams and all the fans wearing the same sponsor t-shirt and hat. Talk about blemishing the landscape.

Other than that, I thought the ever-so-glorious ball was spectacular this year. It never fails to amaze me the patterns that light up on the crystal ball. It really is awesome. Check out this link for some history: http://www.timessquarenyc.org/nye/nye_ball.html

Also, in case you didn’t get to see it, or for next year you’ll be abroad, I discovered this link http://newyears.earthcam.com/ which let’s you view several camera angles right in Times Square live as the countdown chants on and the ball drops. HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
