Yes, we all know that it is yesterdays news that keyword stuffing inside your meta tag description will help you achieve top rankings. With the education of mainstream society on SEO techniques the ballgame has become a lot more complex when you stand out from the crowd in Google and Co. Sure some search engines still return results based on meta tags but this doesn’t cut the mustard with major players Google, Yahoo and Bing.
So Why Bother?
1. Because they often used in SERPS (Search Engine Results Pages)
2. Encourage a call to action/ make people click on your website.
3. They will also help you maintain ranking on smaller Search Engines.
So all I can say to the Search Marketers out there still trying to keyword stuff the description tags with keywords…ITS OVER.
